PALMETTO DUNES: is a resort and
residential community, offering recreational amenities, vacation
accommodations, condominium villas, single family homes and residential
home sites.

MASTER PLAN: Resort
development is centralized and convenient to beach, tennis, golf, fishing,
dining hotels and entertainment. Residential areas are separate and
protected by 24-hour security gates. Shelter Cove is the resort's
marina community on Broad Creek. Leamington, an exclusive golf and
beach community, offers homes and home sites in a private community within
Palmetto Dunes.
SHELTER COVE:
Shelter Cove, a part of Palmetto Dunes and directly across the street from
the main resort area, contains the newest and largest deepwater anchorage on the
island. The 220 slip harbour encompasses 15.5 acres, making it more
than three times the size of Harbourt Town Marina. Shelter Cove's
Mediterranean-style village offers shops, restaurants, villas and offices,
concerts and cultural activities. The Plaza at Shelter Cove contains
a grocery store, drug store, hair salon and a variety of shops and
restaurants for your convenience. During the summer, Shelter Cove is
one of prime locations for many of kids events sponsored by the
community.
The Mall at Shelter Cove houses
two major department stores (Saks and Belk), over 55 smaller shops
and eateries and a special entertainment area. One of the nice
benefits of Shelter Cove is the ability to ride
bikes back and forth between Palmetto Dunes
and Shelter Cove via an underground
tunnel under busy Highway 278.
RESORT AMENITIES:
*Golf:
Golf Week Magazine named Palmetto Dunes as the only resort with all
three of its golf courses rated in the top 50 of the country. Arthur
Hills, nominated as one of the top 25 new resort courses in the country,
18/72/6651, CGA rating 71.4 opened in March 1986 and ranked 38th in the
Southeast. The George Fazio course, 18/70/6873, CGA rating 74.2, the
youngest course ever named to Golf Digest's list of "America's
100 Best." Robert Trent Jones Course, 18/72/6707. CGA rating
72.2. All courses have their own dining facilities and pro shops.
*Tennis:
Featuring the four star Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center--19 Har-Tru courts, two
hard courts and four super-grass courts (total 25), private and
semi-private lessons, tennis clinics, and a pro shop. Make sure to stop by
on Monday nights for the entertaining pro exhibitions which start at 5:30
PM during most of the vacation/sport seasons--free beer and wine provided!
*Fishing:
Coastal and Gulf Stream charters available at Shelter Cove Harbour,
canoe, paddleboat, bicycle, and light tackle rentals available at Fish
Creek Landing. Surf casting is popular along the beaches.
*Dining:
Extensive selection of elegant full menu and casual restaurants,
pool bars and live entertainment at both the Marriott and Hilton
Resort. Fine dining at Alexander's on the lagoon. Elegant
waterfront restaurants, casual pub and deli-bakery at Shelter Cove Harbour,
